hey tumblr, it's been a minute. One of the last WIPs I had posted on here was the very start of my Geogradient Shawl, and as of this morning... it is DONE :D

I got halfway through clue 3 by the end of the MKAL and realized I was not a huge fan of the end result, so I set it aside for a long while. eventually decided to go for a stole-type shape instead. Essentially, I continued the chevrons on either side using clue 3 and 4 stitch patterns, reversing the stitch directions on either side of the point. This was fairly straightforward for clue 3 but kind of a pain for 4!! (I did try the dip stitches without reversing them at first, but it ended up super skewed, alas)

Finishing touch is a ~5" tassel on either end :)

RKF-C/09 Tagetes Fusilier

The Tagetes is the backbone of the Baronic Unified Command. Noble or not, every cadet earns their chevrons in the chair of one of these bastards. The retrofitted version you're looking at doesn't deviate much from the old standby. It's got an uparmor package with a new alloy mix that the Royal Foundry boys cooked up (top secret!). Combined with reinforced joints means that it can take a real beating and keep ticking. Just don't expect it to be doing the two-step anytime soon.

This Tagetes is a Fusilier, squad marksman version. Sensor suite's been retooled, derived from interferometry suites yanked off frigates and downscaled. Don't know what black magic the eggheads had to conjure to fit them into the chassis, but you won't find a better fire control and target acquisition system anywhere else.

Fusilier's standard issue weapon is the Hesse-Kovan Heavy Industries made HvC-125 Precision Assault Cannon. A reliable and imminently accurate system, it'll sling a 125mm through a target two kilos away, no problem. HcVs take all kinds of solid state ammo to boot, sabot, squashhead, plasma-jacketed, even loitering munitions. Won't fire energetic munitions though, barrel deforms too easily under heat stress. they have a disheveled appearance , visible sharp looking scales that stick out from their skin that some find either endearing or disgusting. they have a deep shadow over their eyes that obscure their eye , except at certain angles. their hair is long & fluffy , messy. it's heavily decorated with seaglass , trinkets , beads , jewelry , fishing hooks , old fishing lures , & other various items. they're visibly very scarred, the most prominent scars of theirs being around their neck & wrists , a small scar over their mouth aswell. they're missing an eye , but due to their face shadow you cant tell most of the time. they have freckles & sunspots mixed in with the scars on their face , & their nose is notably crooked.

their one arm is covered in an inky black , that has spread to parts of their back & stomach. strange spiky things have begun branching our from it , & their claws are sharper & longer on that hand. they regularly have green runic magic swirling around said arm. their hands are webbed & clawed with green gradient fingertips , complete with a couple scars on their hands. their tail is long , paddle shaped , & drags along behind them. they have a second , inky black arm on that side aswell (their left) , it being just as strange & pointy as their other arm.

their teeth are green , a visible gap between their two sharp front teeth. they have notably longer canines , most prominently on the top. their fangs are long & hooked , & they have a smaller , inner layer of tiny little hooked teeth to latch on. their tongue is long & forked.

ー trivia !

darkheart is the second-shortest deity , standing at seven foot even.

they are the deity of chaos , darkness , & wonder. they are only painted in a bad light due to their sister

darkheart is prominently malnourished & thin , this is due to a combination of issues. one , they are living in poverty & cannot afford it- therefore they have to catch their prey. two , they are struggling with mental health issues , leading to them having an eating disorder.

darkheart is pescatarian , however , they would eat a mortal if they were hungry enough.

darkheart is a did system of eleven , they're a traumagenic system. they also have autism & other various issues.

darkheart had (past tense) wings , however they do not anymore. one of which was ripped off , the other had to be amputated due to the fact it had begun to rot & decay.

darkheart's sword / gear is sentient & very much alive. it's this way because they're left handed , & their left arm & such is 'strange' , so by proxy- some of that rubbed off on their gear & such.

darkheart's voice is raspy & androgynous , sounding like multiple people are talking at once , so many find their voice strange. they also notably have a bit of a scottish accent that seems to worsen / get thicker as they get louder & more upset tone-wise.

darkheart can play the lyre , ukulele , syrinx / pan flute , & ocarina.

they currently are homeless , living under the bridge to blackrock in crossroads. they have been homeless & in poverty for centuries.

they are somewhat recovering from opioid addictions , & are fighting off a smoking problem (weed).

darkheart is morally questionable , neutral chaotic at best. they're irrational & angry , which leads them to just do alot of things out of a blind rage , not so much for the 'greater good' of things. because of this , they cant keep a steady relationship with hardly anyone & struggle to not have immensely complicated feelings towards demons they know.

eyyyy look who tried to do some modding in veilguard :D

I love that Rook gets to wear this coat with the feathers but I hated the leather high-collared studded whatever-the-hell shirt thing that was going on underneath. so I tried to swap it with the "civilian" version but keep the feathers :D

the coat and pants clip like hell on my shortass elf, but still! (actually I checked and it clips on the civilians who wear it too... so that's not a me problem lmao)

anyway to elaborate: initially I tried to edit the textures to get rid of the weird shirt thing BUT the chevron stitched pieces are part of the model (BOOOOO) so despite changing their color/texture I couldn't get rid of them entirely. then I saw that swapping armor/character parts was a thing? …that I don't really understand, honestly, but there's a tutorial and I can follow steps. anyway, some civilians in Treviso wear the same coat with this low-cut shirt underneath except no feathers, and I wanted that BUT WITH THE FEATHERS. so. I did it! YAY GO ME!!! not super thrilled with the pants but I like the civilians' boots better too.

here was my initial check to see what it did to npcs that share the outfit:

to elaborate more: so in the Rook and Ivenci versions, there are three meshes (? correct term idk?) that combine to make the whole ensemble: feathers, coat, and undershirt-belt-arms-pants-boots. can't just make the undershirt invisible bc there's no torso under there lol and it would also get rid of the arms and legs. in the civilian outfit there are two meshes: coat-and-belt and undershirt-torso-arms-pants-boots.

but like. they're basically the same? so I thought I should just be able to leave the feathers in place and replace the coat and undershirt! which worked! (after uhhhhhh several fails. yes I can follow a tutorial; that doesn't mean I can follow it on the first try because using the frosty editor feels approximately like me walking blindfolded through a convenience store knocking things off shelves. or something. idk what the hell I'm doing lol)

I hate wearing the same outfit as Ivenci tho. seriously considering putting Ivenci in something else and giving the random civilian npcs Ivenci's fit lmao. or just dress the civilians in some other civilian outfit? I wonder if I can do that...

A few people have asked me about my SillyPunk vest that I put that patch on yesterday. I don't have any recent photos of me wearing it because my apartment hasn't had hot water for like three weeks and sponge bathing with cold water has left my hair a wreck, but here's the front as it is on the back of my computer chair. The whole vest can be seen here in the post where I bought it (image also captioned)

That's the sticker Maryland gave out with the first round of vaccinations. I wanted to keep it for posterity, so I stuck it to some cardstock, sealed it all with Mod Podge, went over the image part with some Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, and then stuck a safety pin on with some strong duct tape. The key is something I found on the top of my door frame in my old place. I just noticed something shiny on the corner of the door frame, reached up, and found it. Neither tumblr nor reddit could figure out what it was a key to. Mine now.

Found strings of volcanic rocks on the site Unclaimed Baggage (where they sell lost luggage that hasn't been claimed after a long period of time). No idea where it was sourced from, hope it's not Hawai'i, don't need that kind of karma.
